Studio Start

An international development program for visual artists based in Antwerp.

STRT Kit supports emerging visual artists under 30 who work and/or live in Antwerp and stands for a collective workspace, a curated exhibition, a journey and is used by artists as an inspiration, a meeting point and a production house.

The program operates as an international development platform by offering:

• A collective work and project space located at the Ploegstraat  Antwerp, shared with the international residents of AIR Antwerpen.

• A weekly visitors program with fellow artists, curators and cultural producers focusing on the personal needs of the individual artist's artistic practice.

• Encounters and presentations with the residents from AIR Antwerpen

• An interview with HART magazine

• An international project week (2015 - Beirut, 2016 - Athens, 2017 Israel- Palestine, 2018 - Cairo)

• A curated group show in Kunsthal Extra City, Antwerp

• A collective publication

Timing:

• 16/09/2018, 23:59: deadline Open Call
• 10/2018: selection of the five artists
• 12/2018: first meeting with the former STRT kit artists
• 01/2019: start trajectory
• 06/2019: projectweek abroad
• 10/2019: exhibition Kunsthal Extra City, Antwerp
• 09/2020: publication
